After spending a bit of time at Lieber State Park this afternoon, where Ella camped last night with Grandma Jan, the kids and I thought we were headed for home. But the signs for Cataract Falls enticed us.
Waterfalls had very much the same effect on Conrad that the ocean waves do. He was calm, quiet, and reverent. Not three adjectives that are commonly applied to him. Ella, also like when at the beach, was seeking out the adventure. In the ocean, she's crashing in the waves on a body board and begging someone to take her further out. Today she was begging us to climb down the rocks, closer to the water, then around to the other side, via a tiny mud trail for a different vantage point. This new, more adventurous side of her is really enjoyable.
Ella wanted to take a group photo at the end, but, per his usual "anything but what you want me to do", Conrad shouts out "I need fix you hair" right as she clicked the picture.
We give Cataract Falls two thumbs up. The kids were already talking about bringing Pat back there before we got on to the main road.
